20 July 2026 – During a recent episode of The Highwire, the weekly show which reports on breaking news of the health freedom movement, the show’s host and MAHA Founder Del Bigtree slammed Governor DeSantis over his recent veto of CS/SB 688 which would have removed the felony for naturopathy in Florida.
“I suppose [Governor DeSantis] is planning on running for President, and unfortunately for Ron, I think this [veto] is going to strike against him when it comes to the medical freedom movement,” said Bigtree.
Bigtree said the governor’s letter explaining his veto of CS/SB 688 misleads the public, and described the veto letter as “gaslighting.” Bigtree went on to criticize each of the governor’s stated points in his veto letter.
Referring to the wide amount of bipartisan support for the bill in both the Florida Senate and House, Bigtree said, “Most of your government in Florida knows what’s going on.”
“One of the guys who I thought has really been a hero all this time is Ron DeSantis,” said Bigtree, describing the veto as “a seriously disappointing moment” and adding that DeSantis has weaknesses on health freedom issues. “Ron DeSantis is apparently also suffering from some of this schizophrenia we are seeing up in Washington,” said Bigtree.
Del Bigtree is a longtime national leader in the health freedom movement, working closely alongside RFK Jr. and President Trump to found and lead the Make America Healthy Again movement.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Paul Renner has come out saying that if elected he would support expanding access to naturopathic medicine.
Bigtree made his statements during episode 484 of The Highwire. See the whole news segment here: https://thehighwire.com/ark-videos/has-desantis-let-florida-down/
