FPA maintains year-round monitoring on the Florida Legislature and its committees, including comprehensive bill analysis. Reports are provided to all FPA members during each legislative session, and special legislative reports and alerts are provided as necessary. To support its legislative efforts, FPA retains the services of Holland & Knight’s state-wide legislative team.
Annual Rebate via Reach Florida
By participating in the Classified and/or Display advertising networks, your newspaper can earn annual rebates. These networks are a benefit to all FPA members in good standing and provides revenue that can offset the cost of membership. Additionally, your newspaper can sell into the Reach Florida network and earn extra income.
Weekly and Creative Excellence Contests
Reward your creative teams and showcase their excellent work! Members from weekly newspapers have an option to enter annual contests in over 40 categories. Experienced professionals judge the contests, and provide written critiques that can help you improve your publication. Daily newspapers may enter the contest conducted by the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors (FSNE). Awards for the contests are presented each year at the annual convention. Paid Internship Program
The Florida Press Foundation provides funding to FPA members for its summer intern program. An eight-week paid internship can be implemented for any phase of newspaper production, including advertising, editorial, circulation and digital. The program applies to Florida resident students attending Florida colleges and universities. This is an exciting opportunity to provide students with real newspaper experience to complement their academic preparation, and many of the participating members have hired their interns after graduation.
