Parrish, FL — North River Charter Academy is celebrating an extraordinary first year of operation under the leadership of Principal Brittany Fangmeier, marked by exceptional academic growth, student success, and strong community support.
Opened to serve families in Parrish and the surrounding communities, North River Charter Academy has quickly established itself as a high-performing, student-centered school with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. During its inaugural year, students demonstrated impressive academic gains that reflect the dedication of the school’s staff, students, and families.
The school’s first-year academic results reflect strong student growth and achievement. All kindergarten students who took the Star Reading assessment met proficiency standards, and every first-grade student achieved proficiency on the Star Math assessment. Second-grade students recorded an impressive average growth score of 72 points in reading, while individual students across grade levels demonstrated extraordinary gains of up to 368 points on their end-of-year Star Assessments.
The Star Assessment, developed by Renaissance Learning, is a nationally recognized, computer-adaptive assessment used by Florida schools to measure student proficiency and growth in reading, math, and early literacy. The assessment provides educators with valuable data throughout the school year and allows schools to monitor student progress, identify areas for support, and celebrate academic growth.
“We are incredibly proud of what our students, teachers, and families have accomplished during our first year,” said Principal Brittany Fangmeier. “These results reflect the hard work taking place in our classrooms every day and the strong partnerships we have built with our families. From the very beginning, our goal has been to create a learning environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed.”
As North River Charter Academy prepares to enter its second year, the school is also preparing to move to its brand-new campus on Rutland Road, a major milestone in its continued growth. The state-of-the-art facility has been designed to support innovative teaching and learning, with modern classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, STEAM-focused instructional areas, and amenities that will serve students for years to come.
Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is currently open for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. As a public charter school, North River Charter Academy offers families a high-quality educational option featuring certified teachers, technology-rich classrooms, project-based learning opportunities, extracurricular activities, and a supportive school culture centered on student achievement.
“Our first year has exceeded expectations, and we are just getting started,” Fangmeier added. “We are excited to welcome new families to the Wolf Pack and continue building a school community where students are inspired to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.”
