St. Thomas More Catholic Church

Memorial Service for the Victims of Abortion to be held at All Souls Catholic Cemetery

Sanford, FL, 09 September: On September 12, 2026, at 10 a.m., St. Thomas More Catholic Church will hold a solemn prayer vigil as part of The National Remembrance Day for Aborted Children. The vigil will take place at All Souls Catholic Cemetery in Sanford at the memorial site for the victims of abortion.

National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children was first held in September 2013 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the burial of around 1,500 abortion victims in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On this day, mourners are expected to make a pilgrimage to the gravesites of aborted children and memorial sites to offer their prayers. The National Day of Remembrance allows those affected to acknowledge hidden grief caused by abortion. This prayer vigil will help give hope and healing through prayer and repentance.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, abortion continues to be a widely practiced injustice in our country. It is more important than ever that we mourn the millions of babies lost and pray for an end to abortion. We invite you to attend this vigil or one near you to unite in prayer, honor the innocent children lost to abortion, and pray for an end to the injustice of abortion.

“Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
