TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Florida) has elected Jeffrey Huber, FAIA, as its first vice president/president-elect in 2027. He will serve as AIA Florida president in 2028. Huber currently serves as vice president of resilience and previously served as vice president of advocacy in 2025.
Huber is a principal and partner at Brooks Scarpa Huber and a professor at the Florida Atlantic University School of Architecture. A licensed architect and landscape architect with more than 25 years of experience, his work and professional leadership focus on resilience, housing, sustainability, and the public realm. He previously served on the AIA National Strategic Council and was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows for his contributions to design, advocacy and professional leadership.
Also elected to the 2027 board of directors are:
Peter Hauerstein, AIA, secretary/treasurer – Hauerstein is principal of Sol Design Studio and has held leadership roles with AIA Tampa Bay and AIA Florida, including serving as AIA Florida’s 2026 vice president of advocacy. A mentor and longtime advocate for the profession, he has contributed to several statewide task forces, serves on AIA National’s Government Advocacy Committee and is the AIA Florida 2026 recipient of the Anthony “Tony” Pullara Individual Service Award.
Timothy Johnson, AIA, vice president – Johnson is a licensed architect with more than 30 years of design and construction experience and serves as Orlando’s city architect and deputy director of economic development. A former AIA Orlando president and current state director, he was recognized as a 2025 Citizen Architect for his professional leadership and service to the community.
Stephen Hruby, AIA, vice president – Hruby is the founder of Architects Unlimited, a Naples-based architecture and urban design firm recognized for its work in affordable housing and community revitalization. A longtime AIA leader and Citizen Architect, he serves on the AIA Florida board and several local housing and design organizations. He has received the AIA Florida Silver Medal for his professional and community service.
Hannah Murray, Assoc. AIA, associate director at large – Murray serves as associate director for AIA Tampa Bay and co-chair of its Young Architects Forum. She focuses on connecting emerging professionals with firms, mentors and leadership opportunities across Florida.
Amanda Barton, AIA, Young Architect representative to serve on the AIA Young Architect Forum – Barton is a vice president at HKS specializing in coastal hospitality design and a leader in mentorship, advocacy and resilient design. A former AIA Miami president and current South Florida NOMA vice president, she received the 2026 AIA Young Architects Award and the 2025 AIA Florida Anthony “Tony” Pullara Individual AIA Service Award.
Stacey Boynton, AIA, Small Firms Exchange representative to serve on the AIA Small Firms Exchange – Boynton is the founder and principal of STUDIO-US DESIGN, a community-centered architecture practice in South Florida. She serves as vice president of AIA Fort Lauderdale, contributes to AIA Florida’s IDEA Advisory Council and is a past president of South Florida NOMA.
Huber will serve as first vice president/president-elect on the 2027 board, led by AIA Florida President Kelly Wieczorek, AIA. The board’s leadership also includes vice presidents Brooke Godinez, AIA, and Jaime Sobrino, FAIA; immediate past president Adam Gayle, AIA; associate director at large Mayroon Yacoub, Assoc. AIA; and 13 state directors representing AIA Florida’s local components.
