The Breeze Newspapers has an immediate opening for a weekly editor/reporter on sunny Fort Myers Beach.
We are seeking someone who understands — and loves — community journalism, the kind of reporting that entails covering everything from town council meetings and the crowning of the Shrimp Fest queen to breaking updates on water quality issues and game-changing development projects.
On the reporting side, this position requires the ability to write the kind of stories that can make even the smallest paper a great read; good photography skills; strict attention to detail and a proven ability to meet overlapping deadlines. The editing component requires good news judgement to help dictate front page makeup and the ability to edit press releases, calendar items, and letters to the editor to AP style.
All eight of the Breeze Newspapers print weeklies also have a strong online news presence so the ability to write good, clean, concise copy on a breaking news cycle is essential as well.
