Orlando Comas joins the IM Board of Directors
Orlando Comas is the VP of Advertising overseeing the South Florida markets including the Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald. In his current role Orlando leads sales teams responsible for leading sales strategy and execution across the in-market advertising departments in Miami and Bradenton generating $20 Million in annual revenues. He is also responsible for the development of strategies for growing and transitioning legacy/traditional advertisers into digital platforms as well as diversified products and services. This includes providing direction for new initiatives that allow for double-digit growth in digital revenue for the organization while managing declining print revenues from some key verticals.
Orlando has 26 years experience in sales and marketing including a focus in digital advertising over the past 21 years. He joined the Miami Herald Media Company in 2001 as a Digital Media Consultant. His tenure with the company includes several positions within the Miami Herald, Knight Ridder Digital, McClatchy Interactive and McClatchy. Over the years he has led the digital transformation of the company by developing and implementing company-wide strategies, partnerships, product launches and sales training programs across McClatchy’s 30 newspapers in 28 US markets. He has led digital sales development teams regionally and nationally resulting in consistent double-digit year-over-year digital revenue growth during his tenure with the company.
Some of these company-wide initiatives include successful launch, training and implementation of reseller programs including:
- Yahoo! Newspaper Consortium and reseller agreement: $35 Million
- Daily deals program (DealSaver): $20 Million
- Small Medium Business solution programs (ImpressLOCAL): $15 Million
Orlando is an active community member participating in various advisory board committees including the Board of Directors for the Florida Newspaper Advertising & Marketing Executives as well as an Advisory Board member for FSU’s Center for Hispanic Marketing Communications.
Orlando has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing minor, and a Masters Degree in International Business from Florida International University. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
Orlando is married and has a 15-year-old daughter. He enjoys the outdoors, running, cycling and anything to do with water. He is also an avid foodie and can cook a mean paella.
