Florida Press Association welcomes Bob McFarlin
Bob McFarlin is the new General Manager of the Miami Herald, el Nuevo Herald and the Bradenton Herald. He too has a long history in our newspaper business and has ink in his blood. Additionally, he also runs (since 2017) the technology division as the Senior Director of Infrastructure and Security – in both capacities and is a direct report to the Chief Operating Officer for McClatchy. He started with The Sun News in 1993 and in 1995 transferred to Knight Ridder Corporate to build out their centralized financial organization. Bob has held various positions in technology and security throughout most of his career and has lived in Miami, FL since 2010. Second time’s a charm as he lived here from 1995 through 1998), however he’s been based out of Miami and commuted monthly since 1998. Bob has also worked with the IOC to set up and run the 2006 and 2008 Olympic bureaus for both Knight Ridder and McClatchy. We’re happy to have him as our newest Florida Press Association board member.
