The Palm Beach Post in West Palm Beach, Fla., is looking for top reporting candidates for summer 2018 paid internships.
Applicants must have at least two years of college; clips that show their abilities; be working toward a degree or have completed school within six months of the start of the internship; a valid drivers license; and a vehicle in good working condition. Internships pay $475/week, which does not include room, board or transportation.
Our area of South Florida offers warm weather, open record laws that sizzle, and coverage opportunities that include corruption and Mar-a-Lago, a frequent winter destination of Donald J. Trump. Interns juggle a load of daily news and crime stories, features and, when they really put their mind to it, the kind of in-depth stories that make journalism great. They must be able to work quickly and with nuance to cover one of Florida's largest and most diverse counties. Abilities to sort spreadsheets, shoot photos and be flexible with social media are all helpful.
Interested candidates should provide a cover letter, resume, references and writing samples to Em Mendez, newsroom manager, and Joel Engelhardt, investigative team editor, at email@example.com by midnight Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017.
