Sales Tax Delivery Charge Exemption Seminar
Event Date:
Jan. 22, 2010
| Event Time(s): 11:00 am |
The Florida Press Association is hosting a seminar to address questions on newspaper collection of Florida sales tax on delivery or transportation charges imposed by their carriers, and on the newspaper's entitlement to the sales tax exemption for such charges. These are important questions because delivery charges are common-place and taxes on them can add up to a substantial sum of money. FPA General Counsel and an expert in the area will provide members with information to help them navigate through the DOR requirements.
Location: Orlando Sentinel, Company Conference Room 633 N. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL 32801 Cost: $75 per person (lunch is included)

North Carolina Newspaper Production Conference
Event Dates:
May. 14-15, 2010
Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center Research Triangle Park Durham, NC
The North Carolina Newspaper Production Conference is geared toward the professional development of those in the newspaper production industry. Anyone in Advertising Design, Pre-Press, Press, or Post-press (distribution) areas of newspaper production can benefit from the sessions and speakers brought in by the conference. This year's conference will be expanding on the theme of "How to do more, with less". Production professionals can directly impact the bottom line in their newspapers and we are working on a program that shows how to improve efficiencies while reducing costs. We'll be talking about improving the efficiencies of your printing to reduce ink and waste costs, the pros and cons of in-sourcing vs out-sourcing and how to evaluate which solution works best for your operation. We have already booked one of our general session speakers who has an optimistic attitude about the future of newspapers. Arnold Garson, publisher of the Louisville Herald Journal and author of the speech The Courier-Journal is 'alive and well' will be speaking on his vision of the future of Newspapers.
More speakers will be announced soon, so make sure you budget for next year's conference. This is the most reasonable priced conference in the country with registration at $25 per person. Register two attendees and get the third free. Or see any of our sponsoring vendors for free passes to the conference. On Friday, join us for a round of golf for an additional $15 or fish with us (boats, tackle, and professional guides furnished) on one of North Carolina's premier lakes for $25. This is a great opportunity to network with your peers and build on the skills to allow your production professionals to assist News and Advertising as they explore new methods to add value to our readers and advertisers. Improving our efficiencies allows more flexibility while insuring operational success. Don't miss out on this opportunity. Check out our website at ncproduction.org for more information.
